Hey guys! I just realized the other day that I only have about 3 official class days left in my freshman year:), I've had so much work lately and I'm hardly getting any sleep because I've been living at Bird library... So anyway I recently created my own website for freelance work that I just started last summer; I began doing small illustrations for friends and family and decided that for this summer I'd spread the word that I'm open for illustrations through my own website.
Check it out:) www.laurliberg.carbonmade.com
Oh and I'm almost finished with my Journal for my Design Odyssey class that I've been telling you about, I just added more sketches here are just a few...
I'll keep you posted with how the rest of my week goes!

3 weeks until Summer?!
I can not believe I only have about 3 weeks left at school?! Unreal. I actually have so much to get done, but there is so much to look forward to, time is going to fly by! So.. I have my final critiques for my foundation class- drawing and time arts, quickly approaching. I also have all of my work from my semester in Design Odyssey due April 28th, which I remember I said I would keep you posted on! I've decided that for my final project, where I travel some place I've never been, I would go to downtown Syracuse. There are a lot of nice vintage shops and cute boutiques in an area called Armory Square, should be interesting to photograph... here are some pictures from my journal I was telling you about, enjoy:)
the image on the right is the cover I designed, based off of Pink Floyd's "wish you were here"
and the image on the left is just a page from the journal.

Besides classes, there is so much going on these last couple weeks. The last weekend in April, Drake is coming to preform in the Carrier Dome so its going to be an awesome weekend :) oh! and my friend who is in Bandier actually just had Rev Run come in and speak to their class, this happened last night. I actually had class so I couldn't go, but I heard it was interesting, I wish someone recorded it. So this weekend I'm actually helping my friend paint the hallway in the house he lives in, we're planning on painting it black and splatter painting neon colors over top it should look really cool. He also wants the Greek letters of the house he's apart of painted as a mural on the wall? I'll keep you posted of course with pictures!

my first post!
Hi there,
My name is Lauren. I'm currently a Freshman at Syracuse and I just recently declared my major as Comm Design. I'm from a small town outside of Philadelphia, PA, so yes I am a huge Philly fan. I'm surrounded by Yankee fans, and that might actually be the one thing I dislike about Syracuse but only when the Yankees beat us... Anyway I chose Syracuse University (obviously not for their poor choice in baseball) but because of the diverse campus. I wanted to attend an art school without losing everything that is offered at a University such as sports, Greek life, and a countless number of other majors that have absolutely nothing to do with art. I think its extremely important to have the opportunity to experience other fields outside of an art school to be able to go back to the studio and truly love and know its exactly where you belong. Since being at Syracuse I've realized it's definitely right for me, I can surround myself with only VPA majors, but can easily walk onto campus and feel like I'm not just an art student.
So its more than halfway through second semester, and I can not believe how fast my first year at college went! The time flew by and now I have about a month left with so much work unfortunately :( My favorite class all semester has been Design Odyssey, the class has visiting designers come in and talk to us about their careers. The homework we've been assigned, I think, has been really enjoyable. The first class we were assigned to buy a journal and draw or write about anything that inspires us for each week of class. I can say that this class has definitely helped me decide my major as Comm Design. My final project for the class is to go someplace I have never been, take pictures and draw/write our experience in our journals. I'm excited, but as of right now I have no idea where to go?!
I'll keep you posted with pictures from my journal too!
